The Chicken Class

If you’ve ever looked at a whole chicken in the grocery store and thought, “WTF would I do with that?” … you’re not alone, and The Chicken Class is here to help.

The Chicken Class is a fun, judgment-free zone where you’ll reclaim the skills and knowledge required to source, cut, and cook better poultry. After learning how to buy chicken you can feel good about, we’ll dive into a step-by-step, hands-on tutorial on how to butcher a whole chicken. Once your chicken has been elegantly disassembled, we’ll then discuss cooking tips that will bring an end to your days of dried-out poultry and leave you with a meal plan that will feed you for days.

At the end The Chicken Class, you’ll walk away with:

  • Essential information about the ethical, environmental, and societal issues surrounding chicken farming, and how to buy chicken that aligns with your values

  • Practical knife skills and principles for butchering a poultry at home

  • Freshly-cut chicken parts ready for a quick, delicious meal  after your class

  • A meal plan that shows how your to make the most out of your chicken

  • Bragging rights because you can now butcher a chicken, that’s pretty badass

This is a VIRTUAL class hosted over Zoom. We encourage you to use your everyday kitchen gear, but recommend using as sharp a knife as possible.

If you live in the Boston area, you can add on a pasture-raised chicken for pickup at a local farmers market.. If you live elsewhere or if you simply prefer to BYO chicken, no problem – we’ll send you guidance on what to look for in farms, butcher shops, and grocery stores to support a better meat system.

We hope to see you there! And remember, friends don’t let friends eat dry chicken.
